Alaska Residents to Receive $1,702 Stimulus Payment by August Under State’s Annual Program

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (July 25, 2025) — As federal talks of new stimulus payments continue to circulate without confirmation, one U.S. state is moving ahead with its own financial relief plan. Alaska residents can expect a welcome deposit of $1,702 in their bank accounts by August, thanks to the state’s Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) program.

Unlike the federal Economic Impact Payments (EIPs) rolled out during the COVID-19 pandemic, which ended with the last $1,400 installment under the Biden Administration, Alaska’s initiative is an annual tradition. Managed by the Alaska Department of Revenue, the PFD allows residents to share in the state’s wealth generated from its rich oil and mineral resources.

What Is the Permanent Fund Dividend?

In operation since 1980, the PFD is unique to Alaska and provides a yearly cash distribution to qualifying residents. The program is funded by the state’s oil revenues and is viewed by many as a model of localized economic support, particularly during times of broader economic uncertainty.

This year’s payout is set at $1,702 per eligible individual.

Who Qualifies?

To receive the 2025 dividend, applicants must have met the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be a resident of Alaska.
  • Have lived in the state for at least 12 consecutive months without intent to leave.
  • Spent at least 72 continuous hours in Alaska in the past two years (for those temporarily out of state for valid reasons such as education or military service).
  • Not have been incarcerated for a felony in the past year.
  • If previously convicted of a felony or two misdemeanors since 1997, have no new misdemeanors in the past 12 months.

Applications for this year’s payment closed on March 31, 2025. Those who missed the deadline must wait until next year to apply.

When Will the Money Arrive?

Disbursements began in June and will continue through August. Here’s the current payout schedule:

  • Applicants marked as “Eligible-Unpaid” by June 11 received their payment on June 18.
  • Those who were “Eligible-Not paid” by July 9 should have been paid on July 17.
  • Individuals whose status is “Eligible-Unpaid” as of August 13 can expect payment by August 21.

Eligible residents can check their payment status via the official PFD website.

What About Federal Stimulus Payments?

While online rumors swirl about a potential new round of federal stimulus checks, no official plans have been announced. The most recent action came in the form of the Big, Beautiful Bill under the Trump Administration, which includes a $1,000 once-off “Trump Account” payment for families with new babies born between 2025 and 2028—a move designed to promote early saving for children’s futures.

At present, no new general federal stimulus payments are scheduled.
